(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" est une chanson enregistrée et publiée en 1976 par KC & The Sunshine Band pour l'album "Partie 3". La chanson est devenue leur troisième succès numéro un sur le Billboard Hot 100, ainsi que son troisième numéro un sur le palmarès âme. Cette chanson a été initialement controversée, car les paroles ont été interprété par beaucoup comme ayant des connotations sexuelles. La face B de "Shake Your Booty" était "Boogie Shoes", qui devint plus tard un coup sur lui-même quand il est apparu sur le "Saturday Night Fever" bande-son en 1978. "I was a young 20 year old dj in Montreal and I still remember when that album came out, we were waiting for it, the owner of the record store told us that the album should arrive in his store the following day, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it, and to play it at the venue I was spinning at. Man, was I glad when I got it, I was not disappointed, what a track, When we got to the club before it opened, my friend and I went to the middle of the dancefloor and we listened to the whole album very loud, Wow, I couldn't believe how good the album was. I played Try Me three times that evening, people were asking if that was the new Donna Summer, what a rush that was, Donna summer went on and carried me and many of us on her musical shoulders for the following 20 years, and for this Miss Summer I wish to thank you so much, you will never be replaced, that voice, that era was yours.

Gandalf were an influential late 1960s psychedelic rock group. They were an American band originally called the Rahgoos and formed by Peter Sando, Frank Hubach, Bob Muller and Davy Bauer. They signed a record deal with Capitol Records in 1967 who made them rename the band Gandalf. They recorded their first and only LP the same year. The record includes covers of Tim Hardin, Eden Ahbez and Bonner & Gordon (the writers of "Happy Together") and two songs composed by the band's guitarist Peter Sando. But Capitol spurned them and only released the LP in 1969 with the wrong record inside the sleeve. The copies were recalled and damaged the band's career. Capitol didn't promote the record which made the sales worse. Over the years the album's reputation grew and it was re-released by Sundazed records in 2002.

Son fils Benoît rapporte ses paroles et y va de ses commentaires. On y apprend comment le jeune Robert a quitté Sherbrooke pour devenir le chanteur vedette de l'émission radiophonique: «Les Joyeux Troubadours». Après une carrière de chanteur fructueuse, Robert s'est retrouvé au Canal 10 (aujourd'hui TVA). Le livre relate les débuts de la première station privée francophone et son directeur des programmes nous parle de ses principales vedettes et émissions."

"This is a rare session bringing together three jazz icons, Lester Young (tenor tax) Nat King Cole (piano) and Buddy Rich (drums) for the Gershwin classic, 'Somebody Loves Me'. It was recorded in Los Angeles in December 1945.

I love Lester Young's playing, particularly on this song. His tone is so mellow, and his lines are straightforward but sophisticated, without being 'busy' like some sax players. Nat King Cole is his usual brilliant self on piano, perfect accompaniment for Lester, often with left hand bass lines being played (there is no bass player on this session). This was before he became famous as a singer. Finally, one of the best drummers of all time, Buddy Rich, although to my ears, his playing could have been brought forward a bit more in the mix.

There is no video of this session. So I have put together a slideshow to try and simulate what it must have been like to hear them play together."

"This is a video of Nat King Cole doing two different piano versions of 'Tea for Two' in 1957 on his ground breaking television show. People forget that as well as a great singer, Nat was a pretty hot piano player.

While both treatments appear similar, the solos in the middle appear to be different . Nat being a jazz musician, I guess they were probably improvisations played differently each time. I would be interested in hearing any views from jazz pianists or others comparing the two.

"This 1994 CD, released some six years following the death of Chet Baker, is a major addition to his discography. The trumpeter, who seemed to go into the studio almost obsessively during the last dozen years of his life, is heard in what seems to be a well thought out session with an impressive cast. The rhythm section of Kenny Barron, Charlie Haden, and Ben Riley ranks as one of the best that ever accompanied Baker, resulting in some very inspired playing all around. Flautist James Newton is added for the gorgeous "Lament" (a reworking of the old spiritual "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" and not the J. J. Johnson composition of the same name). The imaginative take of Miles Davis' "Four" begins with just Haden accompanying Baker's vocal, before tuba player Howard Johnson takes Baker's place, with the leader eventually adding his trumpet to what finally becomes a trio. Johnson's tuba also makes an interesting substitute for Gerry Mulligan's baritone sax in the original recording of "Line for Lyons," though it's impossible for him to achieve the lyricism of its composer in his famous recording; Barron also sits out this number. Baker takes to Haden's moody "Ellen David" like it was a part of his regular repertoire. A snappy arrangement of Gershwin's "But Not for Me" is followed by the intriguing "Prayer for the Newborn," a fairly modern ballad penned by Dennis Luxion. It's a shame that Barron and Haden didn't have more opportunities to record with Chet Baker, as the results within this release show a considerable chemistry between them. Out of print since the demise of Stash in the mid-1990s, this very unusual session is worth the intense search likely required to obtain it."

Baker faut pour Haden morose "David Ellen" comme si c'était une partie de son répertoire habituel. Un arrangement vive du Gershwin "But Not for Me» est suivie par l'intrigant "La prière pour le nouveau-né», une ballade assez moderne écrit par Dennis Luxion. C'est une honte que Barron et Haden n'a pas eu plus d'occasions d'enregistrer avec Chet Baker, que les résultats dans ce communiqué de presse présentent une chimie considérable entre eux. Epuisé depuis la disparition de Stash dans le milieu des années 1990, cette session très inhabituel vaut la recherche intense sera probablement nécessaire pour l'obtenir."
